
Dr. Marlena Ward-Dodds is a teacher, trainer, change agent, innovator, coach, and servant leader with over 20 years of successful professional experience that includes entrepreneur, college professor, insurance professional, training and development consultant, and instructional design consultant.
Marlena received her BA in Political Science and Law Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, an MBA in Risk Management and an M.Ed.in Educational Design Technology from Concordia University and an Ed.S in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University and an Ed.D in Instructional Design and Technology from Liberty University. Her research interest includes Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and inclusive pedagogy for adult online learners.
Awarded the Top 10 Adjunct Faculty at Concordia University in 2015 and 2018 respectively, Marlena has experience as an online instructional design consultant and an educator.
She currently serves as a business faculty member at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) and as a Director of Learning Experience & Instructional Design at Kacmarcik Center for Human Performance.
Additionally, her work as an independent consultant providing curriculum design, training, and development for professionals and small business owners, she has equipped hundreds of people to flourish in their business and personal lives. Through facilitating workshops, webinars, mastermind sessions, and individual training sessions, Marlena has created a reputation for being high-energy, engaging, approachable, and empowering in her delivery.
Prior to entering into higher education, Marlena’s education and professionalism placed her in corporate, sales, and managerial positions with both regional and national insurance carriers. In her higher education roles, she has instructed and coached hundreds of adult learners in pursuit of their college education. Additionally, she has created and conducted workshops nationally and internationally for adult learners and business professionals.
Marlena is just as passionate about social responsibility as she is with her professional endeavors. She has served on diversity, equity and inclusion committees in higher education and has worked in various capacities in church. Marlena is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
In her downtime, Marlena enjoys time with her family and friends. She is also an avid reader and enjoys live music.
